Spatial multicriteria decision analysis for Walking School Bus target development strategies

چکیده
Around the world there has been a decline in mode share of walking to school. This is result many factors influencing choice decisions parents for their own journeys work and children's Walking School Bus (WSB) proved be an effective strategy that can innovation promote school combat ‘vicious circle’ chauffeuring children modal switch thus key enhancing sustainability our transportation system more importantly health next generation. paper proposes innovative decision analysis model identify areas targeting WSB development. By applying spatial multicriteria (SMCDA) existing aggregate data on both trip choices relevant zonal characteristics, proposed help planners policy makers where investments setting up/enhancing WSBs might most enabling shift. We apply SMCDA case study Bradford, UK. highlight zones/schools within area programmes realise full potential health, environmental social inclusion terms. Six zones Bradford have identified as with highest uptake schemes. These present characteristics are favourable conditions but less than ideal current shares. They large numbers aged children, lower level trips by car higher parents’ availability. Our SMDCA method target development highly transferable applied other cities UK or around world; providing genuine value apparatus supporting, informing systematising implementation potentially successful (in engagement usage terms)

Spatial Multicriteria Decision Making
DEFINITION Multicriteria analysis is generally defined as “a decision-aid and a mathematical tool allowing the comparison of different alternatives or scenarios according to many criteria, often conflicting, in order to guide the decision maker towards a judicious choice” [12]. The set of decision alternatives considered in a given problem is often denoted by A and called the set of potential a...
متن کاملMulticriteria Spatial Decision Support Systems
DEFINITION A spatial decision support system (SDSS) is an interactive, computer-based system designed to support a user or a group of users in achieving a higher effectiveness of decision making while solving a semi-structured spatial decision problem [10]. It lies at the intersection of two major trends in the spatial sciences: geographic information sciences (GIS) and spatial analysis [10]. W...
متن کاملMulticriteria Spatial Decision Analysis in Web GIS Environment
Internet, a client/server system, is a perfect means of GIS data accessing, analyzing and transmission. The World Wide Web, FTP (file transfer protocol) and HTTP programs make it convenient to access and transfer data files across the Internet. Using Internet for GIS makes it easy access to acquire GIS data from diverse data sources in the distributed environment. The geospatial multicriteria d...

With the complexity and amount of information in a wide variety of comparative performance reports in poultry production, making a decision is difficult. This problem is overcomed only when all data can be put into a common unit. For this purpose, five different decision making analysis approaches including Maximin, Equally likely, Weighted average, Ordered weighted averages and Technique for ...
متن کاملA User-centered Multicriteria Spatial Decision Analysis Model for Participatory Decision Making: An Ontology-based Approach
Integration of GIS and Multicriteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) in the Web environment has recently gained much attention in participatory (collaborative) spatial decision making. This research trend has focused on the development and use of Web-based collaborative spatial MCDA (SMCDA) systems. The systems are often based on the views of the experts (planning practitioners, analysts) and provide ...
